"San Gimignano" Markandrebecca's photos around San Gimignano, Italy

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to San Gimignano, Italy by TravelPod blogger Markandrebecca titled "San Gimignano" Markandrebecca's travel blog entry: "What a camp site! The best views yet from our tent as we have a great view of the town, not bad for 20 Euros a night. We have spent 4 nights here exploring the area. Friday morning we made an early visit to San Gim before the tourist coaches arrived. We climbed the tower for more great views of the countryside and tried to spy our tent. Then we treated ourselves to "the best ice cream in Tuscany" acording to the guide book and all the awards in the shop including a letter of thanks from Tony Blair! Marks chocolate orange flavour was amazing - why don't they make ice cream like that in England? In the afternoon we decided to try and buy some local wine direct from the vineyards in the area. By chance we found Croce Bibbiana where we tasted 5 wines including one that retails in the UK for £65. We bought 12 bottles of the 4Euro bottles but I don't think it will last 12 days! On to Volterra on Saturday, bagging another Tuscan hill top town although not as hard work as Munroes and with more ice cream. Our early start was thwarted by a road closed for a car race. We had another lovely lunch in a little bar before retiring to the park to write the diary where we were kept entertained by the local school children having a water fight of an epic proportion. In the late afternoon we headed to Monteriggiono, a tiny ...

For 2 Players: NakNak! Hallowe'en Episode, Part 0 (The Bad Start)

How many NAKNAK figures can you stack? Turns out, not so many this time. This is part of the reason that this video did not come out on Hallowe'en; grand designs designed poorly... It gets better though, I just wanted to use this footage because I find it so frustrating that mere deletion would not have been satisfying enough. No, this footage, it gets to live FOREVER! -We re-adjust and do this better-er in the For 2 Players: NakNak! Hallowe'en Episode that I'm still going to post even though it's February now...

"Beautiful Chateaux Country" Addicted2travel's photos around Tours, France

A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Tours, France by TravelPod blogger Addicted2travel titled "Beautiful Chateaux Country" Addicted2travel's travel blog entry: "Those of us in the tour group that decided to do the optional excursion to the chateaux today, left the hotel at about 8:30 this morning to go to the Chenonceau Chateau. Henry II gave this chateau to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers, as a present. She had the bridge built that extends over the Cher River. When Henry II died, his wife Catherine de Medici had the mistress kicked out and lived there herself. She created a gallery on the bridge that had been built. The chateau is beautiful and is built almost entirely on the water. We walked through a garden maze, the gardens of both Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici, and the chateau itself. We went through various bedrooms and halls within the house that were all elaborately decorated. The kitchen was in the basement type area and had at least 4 rooms for it to cook, bake, etc. Plus a room for the butchers. Over time, it was mainly women that lived in this Chateau. One of the strangest rooms was from Louis of Lorraine who moved to Chenonceau after the assassination of her husband king Henry III. She was in mourning and always dressed in white, known as the "White Queen." Her bedroom was so depressing though! It was all black! The walls, ceiling, and other decorations were black with silver designs of mourning on them. She must've been one ...

Hwaseong Fortress - Great Attractions (Suwon, South Korea)

Take a tour of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Korea, Republic of -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. South Korea boasts the Hwaseong Fortress which lies in the country's Suwon region. Built in the 1790's, this grand monument took about 2 and a half years to complete. Bricks were used in the construction of the fortress, which can be easily seen throughout the structure. The distinguishing features of Hwaseong Fortress are its defensive elements which include an arrow-launching platform, battlement, and crenelated parapets. Its basic layout and designs were based on a relatively new system in architecture known as the Silhak movement. The fortress embodies an amalgam of designs from the 3 countries of Korea, China and Japan, fused with elements of contemporary architectural science.

"Outside the city" Technotrekker's photos around Hong Kong, Hong Kong

A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Hong Kong, Hong Kong by TravelPod blogger Technotrekker titled "Outside the city" Technotrekker's travel blog entry: "After the bright lights of the big city of our first couple of days here, Dad and I decided that a more sedate pace should be sought for our last full day in town. It's often overlooked that there is a lot of open space and scenery once you get out into the territories and neighbouring islands that form a part of greater Hong Kong, so we decided to go explore the south of Lantau Island - despite the city's airport located in its north. Transportation to outlying territories is dead easy and in total the day cost about $US10 each, after the tour desk at the hotel had quoted us $HK520 or over $US60 each (so do it yourself if you're thinking of going). In the end we had a great day so highly recommend a trip down to Lantau. As you can see the day was fine for a 40 minute ferry ride on the water. Hong Kong has a large amount of port activity and boat traffic so there's always something to see as you glide by. Tugs pulling huge barges along, hydrofoiling ferries and large container ships moving and unloading are just some of the things happening. Anyway, the ride went quickly and not long after arriving at Mui Wo we were on a bus into the rugged hills. The main attraction on Lantau is the big Bronze Buddha, monastery and temple located in the hilly centre of the island at a place called Ngong Ping. The Buddha ...
