"Market day" Sheikha's photos around Beijing, China
A TripAdvisor⢠TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Beijing, China by TravelPod blogger Sheikha titled "Market day" Sheikha's travel blog entry: "25/07/2010 The next morning, we took a tour to 3 markets. First stop was the antique market, that apparently you'd find great treasures, in my my opinion they were mostly replicas....when in China! there was an old book market, that i was fascinated by....although it was all in mandarin;-( i wanted a copy of Mao's red book in english, but all the salesman kept saying was "you buy you buy! no need Leading (reading)". I found the laughing buddhas statues, opium boxes, antique (yeah right) chopsticks, many many relics from the Ming dynasty (when pigs start flying!). Second stop was the Pearl market, which was more like "souk Bin Duaij" as my Aunt Dalal kept comparing it to hehehe! they did have different types of pearls in colours and sizes, very pretty designs although nothing very cutting edge or unusual just your average tourist's pick. They also sold some funny niknaks like little pouches made of chinese materials, little chinese men clothings to cover a bottle (i posted a picture), fake handbags, fake A&F t-shirts, fake everything, and they're quite ademment on you buying their products. Funny incident: this sale's woman yanks me to her shop, (my shoulder was about to be dislocated) and says to me ; (warning: all R's have been exchanged with L's and vice versa) sale's lady: I have someting special for you, ve-Ly beautifu-R ...
